Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Deputy General Manager of Power Generation at OMS, with 15+ years in Pakistan’s power sector — leading performance testing, maintenance and owner-side engineering for large power plants.
I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (2009) and a Master’s in Engineering (Energy Systems) from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. My work sits across the four disciplines that decide whether a power plant succeeds: maintenance, mechanical engineering, performance, and project management.
My rule is simple: high-stakes decisions must be driven by verified evidence. That applies whether the question is how a plant is performing, what is limiting it, or what it will cost to keep it running — and it is the basis on which I advise owners, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
I have worked with K-Electric, Omni Group and OMS — across utility generation, multi-plant operations and owner-side consultancy.
Preventive, predictive and condition-based programmes, major overhauls and shutdowns — built around availability and reliability, not just activity.
Testing to ASME PTC 46 / PTC 22, with heat-rate and efficiency analysis that gives owners and regulators a defensible picture of a plant.
Gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, HRSGs and balance of plant — the machines at the centre of the plants I have worked on.
SAP PM and MS Dynamics AX — including a plant-level SAP PM roll-out, from functional locations and equipment hierarchy to work orders and permits.
Asset management to ISO 55001, reliability improvement and process safety under DuPont PSM.
Project management and detailed engineering design, bid evaluation, OPEX/CAPEX budgeting, and vendor and contract management.
Tariff and regulatory work, and renewable energy integration — the commercial and policy side that plant decisions have to survive.
I have led plant teams, performance-test teams and multi-plant operations, and managed a power station disposal as site manager. In each case the work came down to the same things: a clear scope, accountability in the team, and decisions taken on measured evidence.
Much of my work is owner-side: giving owners, stakeholders and regulators a precise, unambiguous picture of asset performance, so that strategy is rooted in data — to optimise lifecycle costs and safeguard asset profitability.
I keep my eyes on the broader macro energy picture — tariff structures, regulatory shifts, renewable integration, and regional grid challenges — because plant decisions don’t happen in isolation, and technical operations have to align with long-term commercial viability.
Outside plant work, I keep a hands-on, self-taught interest in computing, networking, software and AI — this website and my home server are my own builds. You’ll also find me cycling, on the badminton court, or guest-lecturing at university.
